The Ecojoy City: A Low-Carbon Boutique Hotel

Integrating Sustainability and Style in Shenzhen

The Ecojoy City, designed by Piheng Yang, is a unique boutique hotel located in Shenzhen that combines low-carbon principles with business, fashion, and leisure. With its innovative use of recyclable materials and environmentally friendly design, this hotel sets a new standard for sustainable hospitality.

Inspired by the concept of "low carbon and green," The Ecojoy City aims to incorporate Shenzhen's rich experience in new urbanization into its development. The project focuses on creating a fully functional service package for Shenzhen International Low Carbon City, with the hotel as its centerpiece. By embracing the idea of low-carbon living and incorporating elements of business, fashion, and leisure, The Ecojoy City offers a unique and luxurious experience for its guests.

One of the standout features of The Ecojoy City is its extensive use of recyclable metal materials, environmentally friendly floors, wall materials, and wall hangings. The design takes advantage of the limited height of the original space and the thick column grids, perfectly exemplifying the concept of low carbon. By repurposing existing structures and utilizing sustainable materials, the hotel showcases the beauty of eco-friendly design.

The interior of The Ecojoy City is adorned with rustic panels and grass wallpaper, creating a visually stunning and environmentally conscious atmosphere. The incorporation of greenery blurs the boundaries between the interior and exterior, providing a seamless connection to nature. Additionally, sourcing decorative materials locally not only reduces renovation costs but also ensures that the design reflects the local context.

With a total area of 19,280 square meters, The Ecojoy City offers ample space for guests to relax and enjoy their stay. The hotel's design promotes low-carbon behavior by using energy-saving and non-polluting decoration materials, as well as implementing a water metering system for recording and analyzing water usage. The project also utilizes recycled high-density polyethylene for grass pavement tiles, reducing stormwater runoff and surface water pollution.

Completed in June 2019, The Ecojoy City is a testament to the successful integration of multiple functions within a single design. It not only enhances the surrounding commercial atmosphere but also provides commercial support for the international low-carbon conference hall. By advocating for low-carbon hotel operations and guiding consumers towards low-carbon consumption, this boutique hotel sets an example for sustainable hospitality.

The Ecojoy City has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges the hotel's innovative approach to sustainability and its contribution to improving the quality of life.

With its commitment to low-carbon principles, The Ecojoy City demonstrates that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand. By creating a unique and environmentally friendly space, this boutique hotel sets a new standard for the hospitality industry, inspiring others to follow suit.
